god anon thank you youre a life saver
Post an example of you work. It'd help to point out where your weaknesses are in rendering.
i know the character is weird its a dnd character of mine but this is a rendering style that ive been adopting lately but i think its just reallt mediocre
Flattening of forms due to lack of 3d sense, inability to sculpt with light. The remedy is to go back to greyscale, practice with cast drawing. Bargue plates and asaro heads for example. Or if you don't like those options, anime figurines and gunpla. Practice with restricted value ranges, 2 values, 5 values etc. make your image read, then try rendering.
fuck YES thank you, im gonna try to practice. i have a really hard time with light values and shaped
>doing digital art for at least 10-15 years
You have to be lying, no way you do art for this long and you're still that beg.
Nigga I been doing art for months and I'm already far better than you.
i never did it professionally though , i just did cell shading never actual rendered things
>i been doing art for months and im already far better than you
good !
i think what hindered my “abilities” was drawing degenerate furry nsfw shit , line art and cell shading , and being surrounded by people who found it “fine” didnt really help me
Your biggest enemy will be undoing bad habits. This is why when teaching yourself you absolutely must have high standards for yourself. What your peers think should only encourage you, not placate you. Good luck o your journey, it seems you've finally started driving yourself.
thank you anon and i agree , i think doing nsfw art helped my anatomy but ultimately ive been limiting myself too much to that genre, i wanna draw nice and pretty things once in a while. thank you all for your help
Did a quick paintover of your drawing. You have a lack of understanding of the forms you're working with. Once you understand them it's very easy to block in your values to create the shapes you'd like to work with.
Post your work, i'll give you pointers(render monkey for 20 years)
You can download Krita for free right now. Everyone is using it today.
It's not about the brushes. Any crappy brush can be the "magic one". You have to be motivated to have fun, you need personal projects. You need to indulge your own "artistic addictions". Otherwise, what's the reason to even do this? Don't do it for other people. It doesn't work like that.
is krita any good ? its the first im hearing of it , i will download it though, it sounds good.
It's a freaking good software. I started it using it instead of Photoshop. Krita is a straight forward artistic program , no bullshit. It's lightweight and stable. As soon as you open it customize your short keys. Settings>Configure Krita> Keyboard shortcuts. I like to have the -undo-, -redo-, -increase brush size-, -Decrease Brush size-, -eraser mode-, and -Mirror View-, those six keys close together. I usually place them on the arrows keys and around, so they are easy to feel where they are with your fingers.
is it on apple ? i only work on ipad and ive been using ibispaint
Yep, check it here:
https://krita.org/es/download/
I don't know how good that MacOS version is though. I only tried the Windows version, and it's excellent.
thank you nonnie !
>rendering
Why? Rendering is useless in the AI era.
Just sketch something and put it in an AI cartoon filter or whatever the fuck AI naggers use now.
i simply dont want to do that, i want to learn a skill. thats like saying “why learn a new language just use google translate”
>just use google translate
Use DeepL it's way better.
