What do you think about buying photos as an investment?
My small collection consists of a Martin Parr, one Sally Mann and I'm about to buy a Prue Stent & Honey Long.
I bought these original prints (limited and signed) because I liked the pictures but I wonder if they could gain value over time?
Am I wrong expecting them to be an investment or something I could sell if I'm in dire need of cash one day?

>What do you think about buying photos as an investment?
I think you are a israelite
Are you allergic to money?
I am allergic to putting market value into everything, especially things i don't plan on selling in the first place
is dat bait?
>I wonder if they could gain value over time
Of course not
How so?
I think buying photo or graphic print as investment is not a particularly good idea. If gaining of value happens, fakes and forgeries happen too.
>Martin Parr, one Sally Mann
cringe
call me when you got an original diane arbus print
diane is a bitch

word!
I don't think it's the best investment in the world, photo books are so times worth copping and holding onto and will occasionally appreciate in value. As mad as it is if you want a better investment for something similarly priced you're probably better off buying trainers.
However, I do think it's good to but photo prints you like from photographers that are doing interesting things or trading them with your peers. I was supposed to trade this print with Parker Day a couple of years ago but didn't because my GF didn't want photography up in the house.
Regret that because I like it and it would have been worth a little bit.

this
WELL YOU SHOULD ALWAYS ONLY BUY TOP PRINTS
the only thing with potential value are negatives and you can't display those
kinda pointless
Buying art as investment is cringy. People do it, but eww...
Regret that because I like it and it would have been worth a little bit.
Only investment in photography are rare lenses like 13mm f/5.6 and 35mm color film
